Dr. Maggiore is an Associate Professor in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, SS. Annunziata Hospital, “Gabriele d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy, after having spent several years as Assistant Professor and Senior Physician at the A. Gemelli University Hospital in Rome, Italy, and, previously, as Clinical and Research Fellow at the H. Mondor University Hospital in Paris, France. Dr. Maggiore’s professional career has been involved in several research programs focusing on acute respiratory failure, respiratory mechanics, invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support, the cardiovascular effects of mechanical ventilation, and ethics in intensive care. He published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, editorials and book chapters on these subjects. He has been honoured with several awards from national and international Scientific Societies (SIAARTI, ATS, SRLF). He is regularly invited as a speaker at the main national and international scientific meetings in Intensive Care Medicine. From 2007 to 2013, Dr. Maggiore served as a Deputy Editor of “Intensive Care Medicine”. From 2011 to 2014, he was also the Chair of the Editorial and Publishing Committee and member of the Executive Committee the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM). He serves as a reviewer for several international medical journals.
