Quintel M.

Michael Quintel was born 4th of March 1954 in Weinheim, Germany. Degree in medicine in 1985 at the University of Heidelberg. Between 1985 and 1987 training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in a township hospital, then changeover to the University Hospital Mannheim, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Heidelberg. 1990 completion of training in Anaesthesia in the department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at the University Hospital Mannheim. In 1990 work as research fellow and "ECMO-trainee" in Professor Robert Bartlett’s lab at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Being back to the University Hospital of Mannheim professional development from attendant physician finally to the position of the deputy of the chair of the department. 2003 elected as chair of Surgical Intensive Care Medicine at the University of Göttingen (UMG), till 2009 director of the department of Anaesthesiology II – Intensive Care Medicine at the UMG. In 2009 centralization of anaesthesia at the UMG since that time full responsibility for the entire Anaesthesia service at the University Hospital of Göttingen. Membership in many national and international societies, examiner of the oral Anaesthesia and Intensive Care examinations of the ESA and the ESICM and, host of the oral European Anaesthesia exam of the ESA. Special research focus in respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation and extracoroporeal lung support techniques.
