Slutsky A.

Art is a pulmonologist/intensivist/scientist with a BASc in Engineering Science, a MASc in Industrial Engineering (both from University of Toronto), and an MD (McMaster University). He is currently Professor of Medicine, Surgery and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. His previous appointments were Assistant Professor (Harvard Medical School); Division Director of Respiratory Medicine (1991?2000) and Division Director of the Interdepartmental Medicine (2000?2013), at the University of Toronto; and Vice President (Research) St. Michael’s Hospital (2000?2018). For eight years he served as the Chair of an FDA advisory panel on Anesthesia and Respiratory Therapy Devices. Dr. Slutsky has published >600 original papers, 70 books/chapters, and many randomized controlled trials which have changed clinical guidelines and practice. He has a (Google Scholar) H?index of >135, and his work has received >100,000 citations. He has won numerous awards including American Thoracic Society (ATS) Critical Care Lifetime Achievement Award (2012), Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) Health Researcher of the Year (2014), elected to the Royal Society of Canada (2015), and appointed to the Order of Canada (2018).
