Baldini G.

Dr. Gabriele Baldini graduated in Medicine in 2003 from the University of Florence, Italy. After having completed his residency program in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in 2007 from the University of Florence, he completed a clinical fellowship in Anesthesia for Minimal Invasive Surgery and Fast-track surgery, and a clinical fellowship in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine at McGill University. He also received a Master Degree in Science Experimental Surgery at McGill University under the supervision of Dr.Carli and Dr.Feldman, studying the effects of intravenous lidocaine on short and long term outcomes in patients undergoing ambulatory surgery. Since 2011 he has worked as anesthesiologist in the Department of Anesthesia at the Montreal General Hospital, of the McGill University Health Center (MUHC). Together with Dr. Carli and Dr. Feldman he has been member of the Surgical Recovery (SuRe) Team, an institutional multidisciplinary group developed with the aim to improve perioperative care, implementing Enhanced Recovery Programs. From 2015 to 2022 he has been also the Medical Director of the Montreal General Hospital Preoperative Centre, of the McGill University Health Center. During this period, he has worked with Dr Carli and the PeriOperative Program (POP) team to developed the first Multimodal Prehabilitation Center in North America. He is part of the board of directors of the Enhanced Recovery Canada. In 2017, he become Associate Professor of Anesthesia, in the Department Anesthesia of the MUHC. Since December 2021, he is working as Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and intensive Care at the Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria di Careggi (AOUC), University of Florence, Italy. He is the clinical director of the Multimodal Prehabilitation Center of the AOUC. He remains Adjunct Professor of Anesthesia in the Department Anesthesia of the MUHC. Clinical interests: perioperative medicine, enhanced recovery after surgery, preoperative evaluation and optimization, prehabilitation, hemodynamic management, point of care echocardiography . Research interests: optimization of patient physical and nutritional status prior to surgery (Prehabilitation), enhanced recovery after surgery, fluid and hemodynamic management, acute surgical pain management.
