Costamagna A.

Dr Andrea Costamagna is and Attending Physician (MD) and Researcher/Assistant professor in Cardiac Anaesthesia and Intensive care at Città della Salute e della Scienza Hospital of Turin (Italy). His clinical activity is focused on the management of the cardiac surgical patient in the operative room and in the ICU. He’s actively involved in the heart and lung transplantation program, including ex vivo lung perfusion management, mechanical circulatory support devices positioning and management, para-corporeal extra corporeal life support (VA and VV ECMO) and intracardiac devices (such as LVAD) management. His research work started in the field of translational research on an animal model of ischemia reperfusion injury and continued in the clinical setting of ex vivo lung perfusion and lung transplantation. He’s working on research protocols in the field of extra corporeal life support and intracardiac device and bedside point of care ultrasound as well. Simulation medicine represents another active field of interest. He’s involved in an ongoing simulation national teaching program about donation after cardiac death and in the training of medical students and residents ate the University of Turin. He’s an active member of EACTAIC (ICU, transplant and LVAD and Echo subcommittees).
