Bandera A.

Dr Alessandra Bandera is Associate Professor at the Università degli Studi di Milano, Department of Pathophysiology and Transplantation, and she is the Acting Director of the Infectiou Diseases Unit at IRCCS Ca' Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico Foundation of Milan. Professor Bandera has many years of experience in the study of infectious diseases (with particular reference to mycobacteria, multi-drug resistant bacteria, HIV infection and recently to SARS-CoV-2) and about the mechanisms that modulate immune response to infections, as well as attested by the numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals, including prestigious ones, and by the numerous prizes awarded for the presentation of studies at National and International Congresses. She has conducted research studies and participated as principal investigator in international projects, mainly dealing with bacterial infections, opportunistic infections in immune-compromised patients, HIV and COVID-19. She is the author of 215 publications in extenso and over 300 conference presentations in the form of abstracts published in proceedings or in peer reviewed journals cited on PubMed. She has an h-index of 32 and a total number of citations of 4495 (source:scopus). She is investigator and member of the Italian National Research Group "InAction Study Gruoup: Italian Network of Acute HIV Infection". she is member of the Research Group "European Project to guide and Investigate the potential for HIV cure by STEM cell transplantation (EPISTEM)”, she is Member of the Scientific Committee of the Icona Foundation: Italian Cohort Naive Antiretrovirals and Member of the Scientific Committee of the Foundation "The Bridge: Science between Clinic and Society". She is a professor at the University of Milano Medical School and at the Infectious Diseases Residency Program. Moreover, she is member of the teaching staff at the Hygiene, Dermatology, Allergology and Clinical Immunology Residency Program. Professor Bandera has been working as an Infectious Disease consultant since 2007 and, more recently, at IRCCS Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico Foundation since 2018, primarily in the management of infections occurring in critically ill patients and immune-compromised subjects
