Dr. Lorenzo De Marchi received his medical degree from the University of Milan in 1995. He completed his residency in Anesthesia & Intensive Care at the same institution graduating Cum Laude in 1999. Beginning in 2001, Dr. De Marchi spent two years as a research fellow at the National Heart & Lung Institute-NIH, studying mechanisms of development and prevention of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP). He then completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and his residency in Anesthesia at Georgetown University Hospital, graduating in the class of 2007. After residency, Dr. De Marchi joined the Faculty at Georgetown and, in 2016, was promoted to the rank of Professor of Clinical Anesthesia. At Georgetown, he works as an adult Transplant Anesthesiologist and is the Transplant and Thoracic Anesthesia Director. Dr. De Marchi is ABA certified in Anesthesiology, Pediatric Anesthesiology, and NBE certified in Advanced Perioperative TEE. His main area of interest is the application of ultrasounds in clinical anesthesia practice.
